Fun at the Tented Camp
At the Tented Camp Chris and I have had a wonderful year, despite the unfortunate accident in April 2010 which claimed the livesof Ala & Ian.
We have had many new additions to our little family throughout the year. The Bushbabies are still living in the bathroom above the geyser and have had many little ones. It’s always a joy to find a new “Pookie” looking down at you with head turned upside down in utter amazement at these HUGE creatures that share their home.On 25 October 2010 Chris became a Grandfather with the birth of Alicia Alina Sussens –I am sure Babcia would have been thrilled!!Tommy, the African Wildcat was born in November 2010 and became a permanent fixture of the household in December 2010.
True to his kind he keeps the Bushbabies (and us …) on our toes.21 February 2011 saw the birth of Ethan Christopher Sussens at 08:41 am.We are now the proud parents of a pigeon pair.
2010 also hailed new milestones.Matthew wrote and passed his Grade 12 exam.Well done Matthew!!We are sure that you will find your niche and carve out a future for yourself at Tshukudu.Isabella started pre-school at Montessori and we are desperately trying to get rid of all her excess energy through Ballet and Monkeynastix. We would also like to thank all of the staff at Tshukudu for all their hard work, it is greatly appreciated by the Family
The Tented camp has also expanded with the erection of an additional tent as well as the expansion of the self-catering kitchen. We are now able to accommodate 17 guests in style! The boma has been re-done to make evening meals under the stars even more special and the thatch at the swimming pool has been replaced and enlarged providing even more shelter from the hot African sun.
Chris and I look forward to sharing a fruitful 2011 with all our family and guests. To quote a good friend: “If I could have mylife over I would make more mistakes and be less of a perfectionist.I would travel more, climb more mountains and enjoy more sunsets.I would eat more ice cream, ride more rollercoaster’s, pick more daffodils and dance more.I would have more real problems and less imaginary ones.I would live more for the moment.”
