Going Strong...
The loss of Aunty Ala and Ian Sussens was a big shock for the whole world that knew anything about conservation. It makes you realise yet once again that life is too short. It’s amazing to see their values and ideas still wondering around in Tshukudu. So far this year there have been a few new things happening at Tshukudu. To start with we got a new two year old hippo from Switzerland and he is now successfully accepted by our other hippo family on the property.
We have also seen baby crocodiles, caracals, wild cats all being introduced to the world at Tshukudu. We then had a very sad occasion where two baby lions were rejected by their mom shortly after birth and got a new home with me and Wendy. With one door closing a new one opened and made our wildest dreams come true at this magical place.
I got promoted to head ranger which is an awesome challenge and I am enjoying it a lot. Having the support from the family and learning from the best makes it so much easier. So far this year we can just say thank you to our Lord for giving us enough rain to survive the winter dry months. The bush is looking great with enough food for both the predator and herbivore. At the lodge things are changing a lot for the better with fresh inspiration from Patrick and Chris. We are all trying to improve the lodge for you to enjoy it more and more every day and every year.
Our Cheetahs are making us so proud with almost two or three kills a week which makes our exclusive walk so unpredictable and exciting. At the end what we want for them is to be 100% in the bush and enjoying the young wildlife as it all runs past them or at least trying to...
We are looking forward to seeing you on our drives and walks enjoying the amazing sightings and wonders of Tshukudu for yourself.
